Group Accountant

About the role
As Accounting specialist within the GCG, you will be supervising and taking care of the financials of a number of companies of our global group. Your role encompasses aspects such as postings into the general ledger, coordination with local accountants in other countries, advising on accounting questions, controlling the accounting and reporting quality of the financial statements and the reporting of any irregularities in these financial statements to your supervisor. You will be employed at the head office but your contacts are spread globally. The role includes travelling should the need occur and reports directly to the Group Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Working in a team, supporting tasks in relation to Group accounting and reporting:
- Accounting basis: IFRS (for SME’s)
- Supporting the monthly reporting and consolidation
- Maintenance of the group chart of accounts
- Analysis of and reconciliation of transactions, balances
- Intercompany eliminations, acquisition accounting
- Submission control – deadline tracking, access control of submitted entities
- Support of reporting companies
- Data analysis, quality control
- Support for the Yearly consolidated financial statements
- Preparation of report using consolidated financial information
- Preparation of footnote information
- Internal controls, risk assessment
- Support documentation and verification for the Group reporting area
- Group accounting and reporting policies
- Surveys of current company practices
- Support in establishing Group-wide policy
- Preparation of reporting policies and related guidance
- Support group companies in implementing (new) policies
- Interaction with group companies and other stakeholders
- Other ad hoc tasks involving accounting and reporting
Requirements
- Initial experience (3-5 years) in a finance department, preferably involving accounting and reporting. Consolidation experience not required, but advantageous.
- Business degree desired, but not a prerequisite.
- Eager to learn and work in a dynamic environment and comfortable with working in a growing group
- Fluent English, spoken and written; an additional European language is advantageous
